During a meeting at work today I told God “thank-you” and it felt insufficient. I’ve often felt that my words just can’t “cut it”. After all, how do I put into words what God has given me or what he provides? This led me to my next thought, God really does sign my checks.
If God didn’t put FCA in the hearts and minds of people that support the ministry I wouldn’t have a job. If God didn’t bring up a need for my work, I wouldn’t have a job. If He didn’t put people in place to seek support and raise money for FCA, I wouldn’t have a job.
So in essence, every single dollar I’ve “earned” from FCA is Gods. Everything I’ve bought to “live” is His. The gas in my car, the food in my fridge, the clothes on my back, the roof over my head, my Y membership, it’s all His.
“Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
My thoughts are by no means new, but it gives one a very different perspective on life. Especially if you hold a salaried position within a Christian ministry.
I need to take on that attitude about my job. Even though I don’t work for a Christian ministry, God is still providing a paycheck for us, and I need to stop ignoring that. Thanks for reminding me.
